Foreword
The Quran repeatedly talks about Al-Ma'rûf - all that Islâm orders one to do and Al-Munkar - all that Islâm has forbidden. These Dos’ and Don’ts’ are the fundamental and essential parts of Islamic teachings which have been made mandatory in our daily life. Allah says in Chapter Aal-e-Imran-104; ‘Let there arise out of you a group of people inviting to all that is good in Islâm, enjoining Al-Ma'rûf (the Dos’ of Islam) and forbidding Al-Munkar (the Don’ts’ of Islam).’ He expresses His expectations from us in Chapter Al-Hajj-41: ‘If We give them power in the land, they enjoin prayer (Salât), pay the mandatory alms (Zakât), enjoin Al-Ma’rûf, and forbid Al-Munkar.’ Muslims’ special traits in the sight of Allah are mentioned in Chapter Al-Tawbah-71; ‘The believers, men and women, are supporters of one another. They enjoin Al-Ma‘rûf, and forbid from Al-Munkar.’
Our routine life must be identical to these enjoined Dos’ and Don’ts’. We need to rectify our activities as and when required. This is the only way to ensure that we can be kept away from the Hell Fire and enter into Paradise. “Death is continuously calling us towards our own grave which may either be a garden from the Gardens of Paradise or a pit from the Pits of Hell” (Sunan Tirmizi). This is indeed a wake-up call before we sleep forever in our graves and face a Garden of Paradise or a Pit of Hell.
‘Allah has created death and life so that He may test you as to which of you is better in his deeds.’ (Al-Mulk-2) ‘Every soul has to taste death. It is on the Day of Judgment that you shall be paid for your rewards in full. So, whoever has been kept away from the Fire and admitted to Paradise has really succeeded. The worldly life is nothing but an illusionary enjoyment.’ (Aal-e-Imran-185) We should realize that advocating the truth (i.e. HAQ mentioned in the Qur’an and Hadith) is a fundamental duty of all Muslims. Allah Himself declares that all mankind will be in loss if they do not qualify four basic criteria. Indeed, mankind is in loss except for those who have (1) believed (2) and done righteous deeds (3) and advised each other to truth (4) and advised each other to patience (Al-Asr). Normally we, all Muslims, attempt the first two while do not care about the last two. As this worldly life is a test for hereafter, hence all of us need to pass in all these four tests for qualifying the reward in terms of Paradise (Jannat). The measurement criterion for these four aspects is to adopt the Dos’ and refrain from the Don’ts’ of Holy Qur’an.

About This Book
Islamic Life Style contains the elucidation of measurement criterion through all such verses as a whole or as its part that directly or indirectly deal with the fundamental Islamic teaching of Dos’ (Al-Ma'rûf) and Don’ts’ (Al-Munkar) as they are applicable to all of us till the Day of Resurrection. Original source of each verse is also mentioned thus made it easier to follow the reference of context. These Dos’ and Don’ts’ have been transcribed under fifty different titles.
Dos’ and Don’ts’ of this book are actually excerpts of another book, ‘The Message of Quran’- topic-wise classification of all orderly verses of the Holy Quran. This book contains very simple English translation of complete Quran while each paragraph of the book starts with a related caption and ends with Chapter name and verse number as reference. Listings of these captions are also mentioned in the index of each part. This book is divided into thirty parts, as the Holy Quran traditionally exists. Verses related to Dos’ and Don’ts’ in the book have been written in italic bold. As this book contains only English translation, therefore the English Synonym of some Islamic terminology is also followed by its original Arabic word. For example Arabic word ‘Zakaat’ is used in Qur’an for giving mandatory charity to poor. So it will appear as, “mandatory charity (zakat)”. The distinctive format makes it more friendly-reading for a common book reader. As we do not find any paragraph, caption, text-highlights and caption-index in traditional Quranic translation books, an effort is put in to compile such references from the Holy Qur’an under varied captions. It should be noted that the same compilation is also published in Urdu as ‘Paigham-e-Quran’ and in Sindhi as ‘Quran Jo Paigham’.

This book is not covered under any copy right, hence, anyone can reprint and distribute to achieve continuous reward in this world and hereafter. Allah says in Al-Baqarah-261: ‘The likeness of those who spend their wealth in the Way of Allah is as the likeness of a grain (of corn); it grows seven ears, and each ear has a hundred grains. Allah gives manifold increase to whom, He pleases.’
